Kulliyyah of Education (KOED) of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is now offering its Master of Education programme by delivering the courses during school holidays in addition to its normal offering for fully residential students. To enable a smooth running of this offering, KOED has been mandated by the IIUM Senate to manage the programme in collaboration with IIUM Academy of Graduate & Professional Studies (ACADEMY).

ENTRY & LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • CGPA of 2.75 in Bachelor of Education

    OR

    CGPA of 2.75 in a bachelor's degree of any field together with a Diploma in Education

    AND

  • An English proficiency level evidenced by one of the following:

    • TOEFL score of 550

    • IELTS score at band 6

NOTES

  • If grading is not CGPA-based, the equivalent score is considered.

  • A CGPA that is less than 2.75 may be backed up with with relevant working experience.

  • Those with neither TOEFL or IELTS, may sit for IIUM's English Proficiency Test (EPT) after registration to determine their proficiency level.

Can I apply if I do not have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education?

Yes, provided you meet one of the following requirements:

- A recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Education, OR

- A recognized Bachelor’s Degree in any field accompanied by a Diploma in Education.

Is the class conducted physically or online?

Classes are conducted physically during selected school holiday weeks.

Is teaching experience compulsory to apply for this programme?

Yes, teaching experience is one of the primary qualifications required for admission to this programme.

Can I apply if I have work experience but no educational background?

This programme is specifically designed to cater to working adults, with a primary focus on educators.

Can lecturers apply for this programme? Are lecturers considered teachers?

Yes, lecturers can apply as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and can attend classes during school holidays.

Is this programme eligible for PTPTN loans?

Yes, this programme is eligible for PTPTN loans. Other than education loans, EPF also can be used, as well as other scholarships.

What happens if a student cannot attend physical classes during school holidays?

Alternative arrangements may be provided depending on the situation.

What is the medium of instruction for this programme?

The programme is conducted in English.

If a student does not pass the required level of EPT, can they still attend the programme?

Yes, students will attend language classes concurrently with other classes.

What EPT Band is required for Teaching English as Second Language (TESL)?

A minimum of Band 7 is required for TESL.

If I already have MUET, do I still need to take the English Proficiency Test (EPT)?

You can submit your MUET certificate to the Academic and Admission Officer for verification. For assistance, email: [email protected]

As an IIUM graduate, am I required to take the EPT again for this programme?

Exemptions will be decided by CELPAD based on your previous programme.

Does the course include a final exam, or is it fully assessed through coursework?

The assessment details will be provided during the programme briefing.

Is this programme open to Non-Muslim students?

Yes, this programme is open to all, regardless of race or religion.

When will the results of the application be announced?

Application results are typically announced within 12 weeks.

What is the fee for this programme?

The total programme fee is RM15,500.00

Detailed Breakdown for Fees:

- Registration Fee (First Semester Only) : RM 2,090.00

- Tuition Fee: RM 280.00 per credit hour

- Recurrent Fee (Per Semester):

Long Semester: RM 310.00

Short Semester: RM 205.00

- For the first semester, fees include registration, tuition (based on the number of credits), and recurrent fees.

- For subsequent semesters, only tuition and recurrent fees are applicable.

How many semesters does this programme have?

The programme consists of 6 semesters (4 long semesters and 2 short semesters), equivalent to 2 academic years.

What is the minimum CGPA required to apply?

A minimum CGPA of 3.0, OR CGPA 2.75 with relevant work experience.

How many credit hours?

A total of 42 credit hours.

- 36 credit hours for 12 subjects

- 6 credit hours for directed research
